At present, I’m a full-time student at The University of the West of Scotland, studying for a BA in Broadcast Production. I enjoy both TV and Radio work, but seem to work more with the radio side – maybe I’ve got a face for the radio? (you have no idea how many times that joke is cracked). What I love about radio is that you can create a visual picture for the listener, purely with audio and I think that’s always in my mind when recording voiceovers for my clients.
Where it all began for Jonny Campbell…
I got involved with voiceovers when I was in my fourth year of high school. We piloted a mini-college course from high school which involved an eight-week online course. At the end of the course, we were asked for feedback and I had suggested that there was a voiceover included aiding the learner’s experience. From there, the college loved the idea and asked me to be the voiceover for the program. I had never done anything like it before, but totally loved it and it’s gone from there. Years on from then, it’s weird to think that it’s providing financial income.
I’ve worked on loads of great projects, with awesome companies like Skills Development Scotland, Caledonian MacBrayne Ferries, Scottish Swimming and more! Take a look at some of my work and feel free to get in touch.
What am I doing now?
Well, other than attending university, I work as a freelance radio presenter for Bauer Media – mainly with Clyde1, WestFM, TayFM and Radio Borders. I normally cover the ‘through the day’ shows, drivetime and weekends.
I’m also involved with the street team for a number of Bauer stations and also do some social media marketing and promotions.
